A hiker was rescued late this morning following a fall along the "Sentiero dei Finanzieri" (trail marker 712) in San Martino di Castrozza, Primiero. The man was hiking alone when he likely lost his footing and tumbled several meters down a gully. He sustained several injuries and found himself stranded in a precarious position at an altitude of 2,114 meters in the Crode Rosse area. The man himself placed the call to the Emergency Number 112 at approximately 11:40 AM.
The Emergency Coordination Center dispatched a rescue helicopter, while operators from the San Martino di Castrozza Station of the Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico Trentino (Trentino Alpine and Speleological Rescue) stood by at the helipad. The aircraft deployed a mountain rescue technician and a medical team to the site via winch. After receiving initial medical treatment on-site, the hiker was airlifted to the valley.
